About the role

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the design, development, and optimisation of data pipelines that drive business intelligence, trading operations, and customer insights across our global ecosystem.

This is an ideal entry-level opportunity for an individual with strong SQL skills, a working knowledge of Azure data services, and a passion for building reliable and scalable data infrastructure in a modern, cloud-native environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SQL-based ETL processes.
  • Assist in modelling, transforming and integrating data from multiple sources into our Azure Synapse and Databricks environments.
  • Monitor data flows and troubleshoot performance or data integrity issues.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure timely access to clean, well-structured datasets.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation routines in line with governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Document technical processes and contribute to data architecture and workflow improvements.    

Skills & Experience

  • Proficient in SQL for data extraction, transformation and analysis.
  • Good understanding of data modelling concepts and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with Python for data workflow automation or data manipulation.
  • Ability to interpret and work with business requirements to design appropriate data solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Awareness of data security and compliance standards (e.g. GDPR).
  • Working-level English required (written & verbal).
  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing in a cloud-native, modern data environment.

Desirable

  • Exposure to Databricks, Azure Synapse, or Power BI.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools or data versioning practices.
