We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our Central Packet Gateway team in the dynamic field of IoT. As a DevOps Engineer with expert knowledge on Packet Core Network nodes such as GGSN, P-GW, SMF, UPF you will be at the forefront of cutting-edge telecommunication technologies. Your expertise will play a key role in designing and planning the delivery of solutions to our customers. As DevOps Engineer you will also be part of testing, implementation and operation in the Central Packet Gateway team.

Tasks & responsibilities

• You are responsible for the design and planning of requested changes.
• You closely collaborate with cross-functional teams including network architects and operation teams to align DevOps processes with business objectives.
• You ensure low latency, high throughput and scalability of Packet-Core components by optimizing resources and configurations.
• You integrate and maintain packet core network nodes dedicated for IoT traffic (P-GW, GGSN, CSGN, SMF, UPF, etc).
• You work with cloud-native functions / containerized solutions to plan, deploy and manage 5G Core Network CNFs.
• You develop scripts and automation tools to optimize workflows including provisioning, configuration, monitoring and scaling of network functions.
• You are responsible for administration, engineering and operation of Packet Core Network.
• You provide technical support for internal and sometimes external customers for e.g. consulting and troubleshooting.
• You are part of the Central Packet Gateway DevOps team, where you are responsible for the change from the start with design through the detailed planning until the end of implementation in live network, troubleshoot and fix in case something goes wrong.
• You drive the improvement of the planning/operational/testing aspects (automation) for the Packet Core Network

Skills

• Deep understanding of packet core network (GGSN, P-GW, SMF, UPF)
• Specialized knowledge of Networking & Routing – IP, IP/MPLS, BGP, etc.
• Deep understanding of packet core network roaming interconnection (IPX, DRA/DEA, Firewalls)
• Very good understanding and knowledge of the architecture and call flows of ePC and 5GC (focus on 5GSA)
• Practical experience with integration and configuration of the main EPC nodes to access-network (roaming) and surrounding systems (AAA, OCS, PCRF, etc).
• Several years of experience with DevOps, cloud and CI/CD tools
• Good knowledge of microservice architecture and cloud-based applications and databases
• Practical (testing, troubleshooting) knowledge of the above-mentioned technologies.
• Automation tools for configuration and testing knowhow or willingness to possess such knowledge.
• Close cooperation with cross-functional teams is expected.
• Very good skills in English (writing and speaking). Basic skills in German (mainly speaking) are an advantage.
• Experience to work with standardization documentation (ITU-T, 3GPP, IETF).

• Willingness to take over organizational work as Solution designer.

• Very good experience in classic and agile forms of cooperation.
• Basic Kanban skills are an advantage.
• Experience in scripting/programming.
