The Executive Master of Business Administration Program (CEU Executive MBA; emba.ceu.edu) at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a Program Coordinator position. The EMBA program was launched by the Department of Economics and Business in May 2020.

Reporting directly to the Co-Directors of the CEU Executive MBA, and working with the Vienna-based Senior Program Manager and Program Officer, faculty and administrative staff, the Program Coordinator will be primarily responsible for ensuring a world-class customer experience for the approximately 140 program participants. Given the modular format of the program, one of the key functions of the Coordinator position will be to integrate physical and virtual aspects of customer interaction.

It is an exceptionally unique opportunity to be part of a small, entrepreneurial team that is developing a brand new and distinctive educational program. We are looking for someone with strong time-management and organizational skills, who is also a “digital native” – able to learn fast by working with some of the most distinguished specialists in online education in the region.

The position is in Budapest, but occasional travel to Vienna will be required. There will be an opportunity (but not a requirement) to move to Vienna, in the future.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Setting up and managing the course management website using CEU’s Moodle software and CEU’s registrar system while working in close collaboration with the program’s senior faculty, who will be providing content.
  • Organization of the program’s four modules, including the summer module, which is held annually in mid-August, as well as around November 1 and May 1. Vacation time cannot be scheduled between mid-July, late August, nor around Nov. 1 and May 1.
  • Securing classroom space.
  • Organizing extracurricular activities.
  • Managing student inquiries.
  • Managing daily administrative tasks. Once the program takes off, an additional employee will be hired to handle administrative tasks, until then, the Coordinator will need to balance between the customer experience and administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

The candidate must:

  • have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, in any subject
  • have excellent communication skills in English and Hungarian. Knowledge of German will be an asset.
  • be a “digital native” with a fully developed skill set for MS Office. We do not require any prior experience with Moodle, CEU’s registrar and website editing platforms, or social media business platforms. The position provides a great opportunity to acquire new skills in managing a hybrid online-offline educational program. The candidate must be a distinctly fast learner of digital tools, with the ability to gain proficiency not only through formal training but mostly through a mix of learning-by-doing and self-training with the help of publicly available online resources.
  • have an eye for visual and design aesthetics for documents, presentations or online content (formal experience with graphic design is not required). A key component of the role will be to ensure a consistent, clean and professional style is kept throughout all materials used in the program. In working alongside our team of world-renowned faculty, the candidate will have the opportunity to be trained in advanced MS PowerPoint features as well as in Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • be organized and self-motivated; the position is of a highly entrepreneurial nature, developing a completely new, highly innovative educational product with multiple stakeholders in a fluid two-campus environment means that strong time-management skills are a must.
  • be a cultural fit for the program: we expect a professional with a strong commitment to Open Society values, a global mindset and cultural sensitivity given the internationally diverse nature of the CEU Executive MBA participants and faculty

Additional qualification that would represent an advantage:

  • Three to five years of experience working in a similar, high quality customer service position requiring active language knowledge and application of the above listed skills and competences.

The initial contract is for a trial period of 3 months with the expectation of renewal for another year and then indefinitely, based on identifiable success.
